Skin rejuvenation using the patient's own blood plasma (PRP — platelet-rich plasma), which is processed from a small venous blood draw to concentrate growth factors, cytokines and bioactive proteins. At AE Derm this autologous plasma is re-injected into the face or scalp using the VITAL INJECTOR device for precise, uniform delivery. Because PRP is derived from the patient's own blood, rejection or allergic reaction is not a concern. The treatment stimulates collagen synthesis, improves skin quality and is also used for alopecia management.
Platelet-rich plasma therapy harnesses the body's own regenerative biology. Platelets — the blood cells primarily associated with clotting — also contain alpha-granules packed with growth factors including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), TGF-beta (transforming growth factor), VEGF (vascular endothelial growth factor) and IGF (insulin-like growth factor). When concentrated and re-introduced into tissue that needs repair or regeneration, these factors activate fibroblasts, stimulate new vessel formation, promote cell proliferation and accelerate the production of collagen and hyaluronic acid. At AE Derm MUDr. Helena Závodská prepares PRP from a small venous blood draw of around 10–20 ml. The blood is placed in a centrifuge that separates the red blood cells from the plasma fraction; a second spin further concentrates the platelets. The resulting PRP is then drawn into syringes for injection. MUDr. Závodská delivers it through the VITAL INJECTOR device, which ensures consistent depth and uniform distribution across the treatment zone — an advantage over manual injection particularly for the scalp, where coverage of a large follicle-dense area would otherwise require very long session times. For facial rejuvenation, PRP is typically injected into the mid-dermis across the cheeks, perioral area, under-eye zone and other areas of laxity or volume loss. The growth factors initiate a local healing cascade that builds new collagen over eight to twelve weeks, improving skin thickness, elasticity and luminosity. For alopecia, injection targets the perifollicular zone in the scalp: growth factors — particularly VEGF and PDGF — improve blood supply to follicles, extend the anagen (active growth) phase and stimulate miniaturised follicles towards fuller activity. Three sessions spaced four to six weeks apart are typically recommended for either indication, with annual maintenance. Because PRP is autologous — derived from and returned to the same patient — there is no risk of allergy or rejection. The main side effects are transient: mild swelling, redness and occasionally bruising at injection points, resolving within one to three days. Patients with active inflammatory skin conditions or who are on anticoagulant therapy should discuss suitability at consultation.
