Performed within the trauma-orthopaedics department by specialist physicians, the scan identifies muscle tears, tendon ruptures, joint effusions, ligament injuries, bursal thickening, peripheral nerve compression, and vascular changes that are invisible on standard X-ray. Unlike MRI, ultrasound is radiation-free, cost-effective, and enables dynamic assessment — the clinician can observe tissue behaviour during movement. For self-pay patients without a GP referral, the examination is approximately 1,000 Kč and can be booked directly.
