Infinity Clinic's musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSK ultrazvuk) service provides high-resolution real-time imaging for diagnosing soft tissue, tendon, ligament, joint, and peripheral nerve conditions. Performed within the trauma-orthopaedics department by specialist physicians, the scan identifies muscle tears, tendon ruptures, joint effusions, ligament injuries, bursal thickening, peripheral nerve compression, and vascular changes that are invisible on standard X-ray. Unlike MRI, ultrasound is radiation-free, cost-effective, and enables dynamic assessment — the clinician can observe tissue behaviour during movement. For self-pay patients without a GP referral, the examination is approximately 1,000 Kč and can be booked directly.
Musculoskeletal ultrasound at Infinity Clinic is integrated into the clinic's trauma-orthopaedics workflow, enabling same-day diagnostic imaging alongside clinical assessment. The examination is conducted using a modern high-frequency linear ultrasound transducer, which provides superior resolution of superficial soft tissue structures compared to standard general-purpose ultrasound devices. The scan covers a broad range of clinical indications: **Soft tissue and musculotendinous pathologies:** Full-thickness and partial-thickness tendon tears (rotator cuff, Achilles, patella, quadriceps, biceps), tendinopathy with or without calcification, muscle haematoma and strain grading, soft tissue mass characterisation. **Joint assessment:** Intra-articular and peri-articular effusions (confirmed as exudate or blood by echogenicity), synovial thickening, cartilage surface irregularity, and capsular pathology. **Ligamentous injuries:** Collateral ligament sprains and complete ruptures at the ankle, knee, elbow, and finger joints. **Peripheral nerve and vascular assessment:** Carpal tunnel syndrome (median nerve cross-sectional area), ulnar nerve at the elbow, peroneal nerve pathology; Doppler flow for popliteal and tibial vessel assessment. **Guided procedures:** The ultrasound probe is also used to guide precise injection of therapeutic agents (PRP, hyaluronic acid, corticosteroids) into joints, bursae, or tendon sheaths, maximising accuracy and minimising side-effects. Dynamic examination — asking the patient to actively move the joint while the probe images the tissue — is a key advantage over static MRI. The physician can observe subluxation, tendon snapping, and ligamentous instability under load in real time. Results are typically available immediately and integrated into the clinical assessment. Insured Czech patients can access this examination through their health insurance; self-pay and foreign patients are charged the uninsured examination rate of approximately 1,000 Kč.
