Professional dental hygiene at LK Stomatologie removes plaque, tartar and surface staining that home brushing cannot reach. The initial adult session (2,250 Kč) includes a full periodontal assessment, ultrasonic scaling, air flow polishing with a fine powder jet that lifts coffee, tea and tobacco stains, and personalised home-care coaching on brushing technique and interdental cleaning. Regular recall visits every three to six months (1,900 Kč) maintain gum health and are particularly important during clear-aligner treatment, when attachments and all-day tray wear raise plaque risk. Hygiene is also the recommended preparation step before whitening.
About this treatment
Dental hygiene is the highest-value preventive treatment in dentistry: the large majority of tooth loss in adults is caused not by decay but by periodontal (gum) disease, which develops silently from mineralised plaque — tartar — below the gumline and is almost entirely preventable with professional cleaning at regular intervals.
The initial session
The hygienist begins with an assessment of gum health, probing depths and bleeding points, and reviews your home-care routine. Ultrasonic scaling then removes hard tartar deposits from above and below the gumline; stubborn deposits are finished by hand instruments (deep scaling is available per tooth where pocketing requires it).
