The hygienist or dentist also reviews your brushing and cleaning technique and offers tailored advice to help you keep plaque under control at home. For patients with gum problems, deeper cleaning below the gumline — subgingival scaling and curettage — is provided as part of the clinic's periodontology service and is priced separately. Regular hygiene visits, usually a few times a year, also help protect existing dental work such as fillings, crowns, veneers and implants. The treatment is suitable for most adults; where gum disease is present, the clinician will recommend the appropriate periodontal care in addition to routine hygiene.
