A crown is a tailor-made restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, used when a tooth is too broken down, cracked, heavily filled or root-treated to be restored with a simple filling. By encasing the remaining tooth, a crown rebuilds its natural shape and protects it from further damage while restoring normal biting and chewing.
