TCA removes damaged superficial skin layers in a controlled way, stimulating renewal that improves acne, very shallow acne scars, fine lines, and overall skin texture and tone. At the clinic, TCA peels are a core part of the acne treatment protocol — acute inflammatory acne is calmed with a combination of chemical peeling and 585 nm laser phototherapy, while shallow post-acne marks are smoothed by repeating the peel across a course of applications. About this treatment
Trichloroacetic acid is one of the longest-established medium-depth peeling agents in dermatology. Applied at clinical concentrations, it coagulates proteins in the damaged upper skin layers, which then peel away over several days and are replaced by fresher, more evenly pigmented skin with improved texture.

Preparation required
