Profhilo is an injectable skin bioremodelling treatment manufactured by IBSA Derma that differs fundamentally from traditional dermal fillers. Rather than adding localised volume, Profhilo delivers 64mg of ultra-pure stabilised hyaluronic acid (one of the highest HA concentrations available in any injectable product) into the skin to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and adipocytes — the three key structural components that degrade during skin ageing. The product uses patented NAHYCO hybrid cooperative technology, which combines high-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (for hydration and mechanical scaffolding) with low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid (for biostimulation and cellular signalling) without chemical cross-linking agents. This means Profhilo integrates naturally with the tissue and disperses evenly from the injection points, rather than remaining as a discrete bolus like volumising fillers. The treatment is administered using the BAP (Bio Aesthetic Points) technique — 5 precisely mapped injection points on each side of the face, selected to maximise the product's dispersion across the cheek, perioral area, and jawline through the natural tissue planes. Each injection deposits a small bolus of the hyaluronic acid concentrate, which then spreads through the dermis over the following 24-48 hours due to its unique rheological properties. The standard Profhilo protocol consists of two sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. The first session initiates the biostimulatory cascade; the second session amplifies and consolidates the response. Results develop progressively over 2-3 months as new collagen and elastin fibres mature. Patients report improved skin hydration, firmness, and luminosity, with a subtle lifting effect in areas of mild laxity. The treatment is particularly effective for patients with crepey, dehydrated skin who are not yet candidates for more aggressive tightening procedures. Each session takes approximately 30 minutes with minimal downtime — small injection-site wheals resolve within 24 hours.
