Fat dissolving injections (injection lipolysis) at Vidaskin are a non-surgical option for reducing small, well-defined pockets of stubborn fat that do not respond adequately to lifestyle measures or that are not appropriate for larger-scale body contouring devices. The treatment involves injecting a lipolytic agent — typically a deoxycholic acid or phosphatidylcholine/deoxycholic acid (PC/DC) formulation — directly into the subcutaneous fat at the target site. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring bile acid that disrupts the phospholipid membranes of adipocytes (fat cells), triggering their breakdown. The released fat cell contents are then cleared by the body's immune system and lymphatic network over the following weeks, producing a gradual and permanent reduction in fat cell number at the treated site. The most clinically well-evidenced application is the submental area (under-chin or 'double chin' fat), but the technique can also be applied to the buccal fat pads, small abdominal fat pockets, inner arm fat, and medial thigh fat depending on the treating doctor's assessment. The injection session begins with topical anaesthetic cream applied 30 minutes before treatment, followed by a grid of small-needle injections across the marked target area. Swelling is an expected part of the inflammatory mechanism of action, peaking at 24–48 hours and resolving over approximately one week, along with tenderness, firmness, and possible bruising. Patients typically return to normal activities quickly.
