About this treatment
The thyroid gland regulates metabolism through the hormones thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3); thyroid problems are among the most common endocrine disorders, and are several times more frequent in women than in men. Vaše laboratoře offers thyroid testing on a self-pay basis so it can be checked without waiting for a referral.
Markers available
- TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) — the pituitary signal and the usual first-line screen of thyroid function.
- Free T4 (fT4) — the main circulating thyroid hormone; added when TSH is abnormal or symptoms are present.
- Free T3 (fT3) — the more active hormone, used in selected cases.
- Anti-TPO antibodies — the key marker of autoimmune thyroiditis (such as Hashimoto's), particularly relevant before and during pregnancy.
