Tooth Extraction

Type

Extraction

Duration

45 min

Removal of a tooth that cannot be saved or is causing problems, from a straightforward extraction to the surgical removal of an impacted wisdom tooth. The clinic uses cone-beam CT imaging to plan more complex cases and can apply platelet-rich fibrin from your own blood to support healing of difficult sites. All extractions are carried out under local anaesthetic, with clear aftercare guidance for a comfortable recovery.

An extraction is the removal of a tooth that is too damaged, decayed, infected or mobile to be saved, or that is causing crowding or repeated problems — most commonly an impacted or partially erupted wisdom tooth. At Unimedex the procedure begins with local anaesthetic so the area is fully numb, and for more involved cases the clinic refers to cone-beam CT (3D) imaging to assess root shape and the position of nearby nerves and the sinus before surgery, which helps the procedure go predictably. A simple extraction removes a tooth that is fully erupted and accessible, while a difficult or surgical extraction may involve releasing the gum or sectioning the tooth to remove it gently in pieces — the usual approach for impacted wisdom teeth. To support recovery at more demanding sites, the clinic can prepare platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) from a small sample of your own blood and place it in the socket; this concentrate of your body's own healing factors is associated with more comfortable, more reliable healing. Afterwards you are given clear written aftercare to manage the first 24 to 48 hours, control any swelling and protect the forming clot. Where a removed tooth needs replacing, the dentist can discuss options such as an implant or a bridge as part of a wider plan. Pricing reflects how straightforward or surgical the removal is, with wisdom-tooth surgery priced separately.
