The normal range is age-dependent: women under 30 typically fall in the 1.2–9 ng/mL range; over 30, the reference range is 0.4–6.5 ng/mL. Very low AMH (below 0.4 ng/mL) indicates diminished ovarian reserve and warrants prompt fertility consultation. Very high values (above 5–6 ng/mL) may indicate polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) — where the large number of small, arrested follicles collectively produce excess AMH.
