A sport-optimised blood panel designed to assess training readiness, nutritional sufficiency, and recovery capacity for active individuals. Available in male (2,890 Kč, 16 parameters) and female (2,990 Kč, 18 parameters) versions through cz.unilabs.online, collected at any Prague Unilabs point. The panel combines CBC (for red cell capacity and anaemia), hormone markers (testosterone for men, estradiol for women, plus SHBG), metabolism markers (glucose, ferritin, vitamin D, magnesium), and specific performance indicators tailored to athletes and regular gym-goers. Overtraining syndrome, iron-deficiency anaemia, vitamin D insufficiency, and subclinical hormonal suppression from high training loads are all detectable through this profile. Results in 3 business days. Rated 5/5 (2 reviews — newly launched product).

The Unilabs Fitness blood panel is designed for the substantial gap between the general preventive panel — which covers the population baseline — and the specialised sports medicine blood panel typically accessible only through private sports physicians. It addresses the specific physiological demands of regular training: the increased requirements for oxygen-carrying capacity, the accelerated micronutrient turnover from high metabolic rate, the hormonal adaptations (and maladaptations) to training load, and the recovery-limiting deficiencies that reduce training gains without obvious symptoms. The CBC (full blood count) component examines haemoglobin, haematocrit, RBC indices, and reticulocyte parameters. Iron-deficiency anaemia is the most common nutritional deficiency in endurance athletes, particularly women, and is detectable at the subclinical stage through ferritin (iron stores) before haemoglobin drops. Low ferritin without anaemia — 'pre-latent iron deficiency' — impairs mitochondrial function and oxygen transport enough to reduce VO2max by 5–15% in athletes. Ferritin is included in the fitness panel for this reason. Vitamin D is included because of its dual role in musculoskeletal performance: low vitamin D impairs muscle protein synthesis, increases injury risk through reduced bone mineralisation, and is associated with increased inflammatory response to exercise. Czech athletes are particularly at risk of winter vitamin D insufficiency given the country's latitude and limited UV exposure from October to April. Magnesium is an under-monitored micronutrient that is consumed in large quantities during exercise (lost in sweat and urine, used in ATP synthesis and muscle contraction). Serum magnesium, while an insensitive marker for intracellular deficiency, is the practical screening tool available in standard blood testing. Hormone markers in the fitness panel serve a specific purpose: testosterone in male athletes falls under conditions of overtraining, energy restriction (relative energy deficiency in sport, RED-S), and excessive cortisol elevation. Chronically suppressed testosterone — even without symptoms initially — impairs muscle protein synthesis, reduces motivation, and predisposes to injury. In female athletes, estradiol suppression (often with SHBG elevation) accompanies hypothalamic amenorrhoea, a common consequence of high training loads in women with inadequate energy availability. The fitness panel detects these hormonal signatures before clinical consequences develop. Results arrive within 3 business days — fast enough to be useful for athletes planning training blocks or pre-season preparation. No GP referral is required; order directly through cz.unilabs.online.

Who Is This For?

Recreational and competitive athletes, gym-goers, cyclists, runners, anyone experiencing training plateaus, fatigue, or unexplained performance decline

What's Included

Full blood count (CBC) including haemoglobin, haematocrit, and red cell indices
Ferritin (iron stores), vitamin D, and magnesium (key performance micronutrients)
Testosterone and SHBG (male), estradiol and SHBG (female) for hormonal training-load assessment
Glucose and additional metabolism and recovery markers (16–18 parameters total)

Preparation Required

Blood draw ideally in the morning, fasted (8 hours). Avoid intense exercise in the 24 hours before the draw for accurate ferritin and hormone readings.
