Type
MRI Scan
Duration
30 min
A magnetic resonance scan of the brain on Ultra MR's 3 Tesla Siemens scanner, producing high-resolution images of brain tissue, ventricles and surrounding structures without any radiation. It is one of the clinic's most requested examinations and is often arranged for ongoing headaches, dizziness, neurological symptoms or follow-up of previously noted findings. No referral is needed, the scan itself takes around twenty to thirty minutes, and a specialist radiologist's written report is emailed within 72 hours. Intravenous contrast can be added when finer tissue detail is requested.
An MRI of the head uses a strong magnetic field and radio waves — not X-rays — to build detailed cross-sectional images of the brain, cerebellum, brainstem and the fluid-filled ventricles. At Ultra MR the examination is performed on a latest-generation Siemens MAGNETOM 3 Tesla system, whose higher field strength is associated with sharper anatomical detail than older 1.5 Tesla machines, and the resulting images are interpreted by a specialist in radiology and imaging diagnostics. The scan is commonly requested in connection with persistent headaches or migraine, dizziness and balance problems, changes in vision or hearing, memory concerns, or to follow up a finding seen on an earlier study. During the examination you lie still on a padded table that moves into the scanner; the machine is noisy, so hearing protection is provided, and the whole appointment usually lasts around thirty minutes. No special preparation is needed for a standard scan without contrast, and you can eat, drink and take your usual medication beforehand. Where additional tissue characterisation is helpful, an intravenous gadolinium contrast agent may be added for a supplementary fee. A written report is prepared by the radiologist and sent to you by email within 72 hours, with an express same-day CITO report or a Ukrainian-language report available as paid options. Because Ultra MR works on a self-pay basis, no doctor's referral is required to book, although you are welcome to bring one along with any prior imaging for comparison.
