An extraction is the removal of a tooth, carried out when a tooth is too broken down or decayed to restore, is causing infection, is severely loose from gum disease, or — in the case of impacted wisdom teeth — is stuck and causing problems. The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, and afterwards the dentist gives advice on healing and on replacing the tooth if needed. More complex situations are managed surgically by oral-surgery specialists: the removal of an impacted or buried tooth, such as a wisdom tooth, is from 700 zł and may involve gently sectioning the tooth or the bone over it. The clinic also lists minor oral-surgery procedures including apicoectomy and root hemisection (removing the tip of a root or a single root of a multi-rooted tooth) from 500 zł, removal of a cyst from 500 zł, and incision and drainage of a dental abscess at 300 zł. For surgical cases the in-house cone-beam CT lets the surgeon see the tooth's position in relation to nerves and the sinus before treatment, which supports careful planning. Because difficulty varies so much from tooth to tooth, these fees are quoted 'from' a base price and confirmed after examination and any imaging.
