Cone-Beam CT (CBCT) Scan

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

Cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a three-dimensional dental scan that shows the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses in far more detail than a flat X-ray. Tymodent performs CBCT on site, which supports precise planning for implants, surgical extractions, root canal treatment and other complex cases. Standard panoramic and single-tooth X-rays are also available, each listed individually on the clinic's price list.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that captures a three-dimensional image of the mouth and jaws using a cone-shaped X-ray beam. Unlike a conventional two-dimensional radiograph, it lets the dentist or surgeon view structures from any angle and judge the height and width of bone, the exact position of nerve canals and the maxillary sinuses, and the internal anatomy of roots. This level of detail is particularly useful for planning dental implants, assessing impacted or buried teeth before surgery, investigating complex root canal anatomy, and evaluating cysts or other lesions. At Tymodent CBCT is available in-house at 350 zł, so imaging and planning can happen in one place rather than referring patients elsewhere. The scan itself is quick — typically under a minute of acquisition while you stay still — and is non-invasive. The clinic also provides everyday dental imaging: a panoramic (pantomographic) X-ray, which gives a broad single view of all the teeth and jaws, at 100 zł, and a single-tooth intraoral X-ray at 50 zł for assessing one tooth or monitoring treatment. The appropriate type of imaging is chosen to answer a specific clinical question while keeping radiation exposure as low as reasonably possible, and a scan is often part of planning a larger treatment rather than a stand-alone visit. Results are reviewed with you and used to explain the recommended treatment.
