A dental crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its shape, strength and appearance. About this treatment
A crown is an individually made restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, used when a tooth is too broken down, cracked or heavily filled to be restored with a simple filling, or after root canal treatment when the remaining tooth needs protecting. Bridges use crowns on the teeth either side of a gap to carry a replacement tooth between them. Both rebuild the bite and restore appearance.
