Type
Cardiac Health Panel
Duration
1 hour
A focused, self-pay screening of the cardiovascular system designed to catch heart and circulatory conditions early and start timely care. Completed in a single visit of about 80 minutes, it combines a doctor's history-taking and physical examination with blood and urine tests (kidney and liver function, cholesterol and lipids, glucose, full blood count, sedimentation rate), cardiovascular risk stratification, resting and stress ECG, and echocardiography of the heart. The examination concludes with a consultation and recommendations for any further care. Note that it does not determine an anaerobic threshold and is not intended for athletes optimising training load.
This examination assesses the cardiovascular system in depth, with the goal of detecting heart and circulatory disease and arranging timely, targeted treatment in its early or developing stages. It is particularly suited to people with elevated cardiovascular risk — whether from their own history or that of close relatives — including obesity, stroke, heart attack, diabetes, high blood pressure, smoking or lipid disorders; to younger, active people undertaking heavy physical loads who want to detect cardiovascular problems early and avoid acute cardiac events under exertion; and to anyone planning activities where a cardiovascular fault could be dangerous, such as diving or high-altitude trekking. The screening is carried out in a single visit lasting around 80 minutes. You should attend fasting and bring a morning urine sample, along with firm shoes and sportswear for the stress test. The visit proceeds through a medical history interview; a physical examination (inspection, auscultation, percussion and palpation, with blood-pressure measurement); laboratory blood tests and urinalysis; cardiovascular risk stratification; resting and stress ECG; and echocardiography (ECHO) of the heart. A shower and refreshments are available after the stress test, after which the doctor hands over the report, discusses the findings, and recommends any further treatment — including, if appropriate, ongoing care within one of the clinic's long-term care programmes. The examination does not establish an anaerobic threshold and is not designed for athletes tuning training and load regimes.
