A thorough annual physical or wellness visit at The Polyclinic — now Optum Care Washington — puts patients in front of an experienced internist or family medicine physician at the Broadway First Hill campus, one of Seattle's most established multi-specialty facilities. The visit is designed to identify health issues early and to set a personalized prevention roadmap based on age, family history, lifestyle, and existing conditions.
For Medicare beneficiaries, the Annual Wellness Visit (AWV) is covered in full by Medicare Part B and most Medicare Advantage plans. The AWV includes a health risk assessment, review of functional ability and safety, a personalized prevention plan, and updates to the patient's medical record. The Medicare Population Health Team is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at (206) 860-5510 to assist with scheduling and plan questions.
For non-Medicare patients, the traditional annual physical includes a complete head-to-toe examination, vital signs, cardiovascular and respiratory assessment, abdominal evaluation, skin inspection, and age-appropriate cancer screenings. Physicians integrate on-site lab results — ordered the same day or reviewed from prior draws — to complete a full metabolic, lipid, and endocrine picture during or shortly after the visit.
