Leg Compression Therapy

Type

Compression Therapy

Duration

30 min

Sequential pneumatic leg compression using air boots to improve circulation, reduce swelling, prevent blood clots and accelerate recovery from physical exertion or chronic venous conditions.

Leg Compression Therapy at The Longevity Science Centrum uses sequential pneumatic compression devices — commonly referred to as air boots or compression sleeves — to apply external pressure to the legs in a rhythmic, wave-like pattern from the feet upward. This mechanical action mimics and enhances the natural pumping function of the calf muscles, promoting efficient return of blood and lymphatic fluid to the heart. The therapy is grounded in the same principles as medical-grade compression stockings but delivers a far more dynamic and effective stimulus. By alternating inflation and deflation across multiple chambers in the sleeves, the devices actively move fluid, break up stagnant pools of blood, and stimulate lymphatic drainage. This is particularly beneficial after prolonged sitting or standing, intense athletic training, or surgical procedures. Indications treated at the clinic include lower-limb oedema (swelling due to fluid retention), chronic venous insufficiency, lymphoedema, deep-vein thrombosis prevention, leg fatigue and heaviness, and sports recovery. The therapy also supports healing of leg ulcers by improving local oxygenation and reducing inflammatory cytokine accumulation in affected tissues. Sessions typically last twenty to forty-five minutes, during which clients rest comfortably with the compression sleeves applied. Many clients report an immediate sensation of lightness and relief. Regular sessions — two to three times weekly — are recommended for chronic venous or lymphatic conditions, while athletes often use leg compression therapy as a standalone recovery tool after high-intensity training blocks or competition. The Longevity Science Centrum integrates compression therapy into broader longevity programmes alongside HBOT and Cryotherapy for comprehensive circulatory and systemic wellness.
