The Metabolic + Healthspan Panel is the mid-tier longevity assessment at The Longevity GP, designed for individuals who want a deeper understanding of the metabolic and nutritional factors driving — or slowing — their biological ageing. It builds on the Foundational Healthspan Panel with two significant additions: an Insulin Resistance Profile and a comprehensive Micronutrients Profile. Insulin resistance is now recognised as one of the earliest and most pervasive drivers of metabolic ageing, predating the onset of type 2 diabetes by years or even decades. The insulin resistance profile assesses fasting insulin levels alongside glucose to calculate HOMA-IR (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance), providing a precise picture of how efficiently the body is processing glucose. This is critical for identifying pre-diabetic metabolic dysfunction, guiding dietary carbohydrate management, and monitoring the effectiveness of lifestyle interventions over time.
