Radiofrequency microneedling is one of the most effective non-ablative treatments for acne scarring, and The Clifford Clinic operates two complementary platforms — INFINI and Secret RF — that the physician selects based on the patient's scar pattern, skin type, and treatment history. INFINI uses insulated microneedles that deliver fractional radiofrequency energy concentrated near the needle tip, focusing the thermal effect deep in the dermis (up to 5.0mm) while minimising energy release at the epidermal surface. This profile makes it the preferred choice for treating deep box scars and rolling scars, and it carries a lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation than surface-active devices, making it well-suited to darker Fitzpatrick skin types. The targeted deep heating triggers a robust collagen remodelling cascade without the downtime associated with ablative resurfacing. Secret RF uses non-insulated microneedles, which release energy along a greater portion of the needle length, producing a broader column of heated tissue that is particularly effective for shallow, wide rolling scars and for patients with acne-prone skin. The broader energy distribution also creates stronger textural improvement across the overall skin surface. The clinic notes that some patients benefit from alternating INFINI and Secret RF across sessions, using each device for different scar subtypes present on the same patient. Both procedures begin with 30 minutes of topical numbing cream application, after which the handpiece is passed across the treatment area in a grid pattern. Mild redness and swelling are expected for 24 to 48 hours. Most patients require a series of three to five sessions, spaced four to six weeks apart, for meaningful scar improvement.
