Laser hair removal at The Aesthetic Studio uses medical-grade laser platforms to achieve permanent hair reduction across all body areas. Unlike salon-grade IPL devices, clinic-based laser hair removal uses coherent, single-wavelength laser energy that precisely targets melanin in the hair follicle while minimising heat absorption in surrounding skin — making it suitable for a wider range of skin tones and providing more predictable results. The treatment works on the principle of selective photothermolysis: laser energy is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair shaft and bulb, converting to heat that damages the follicle's ability to regrow hair. Because hair must be in the active growth phase (anagen) to be effectively treated, multiple sessions spaced four to eight weeks apart are required to target all follicles across their growth cycles. Most patients require six to eight sessions for significant permanent hair reduction, with occasional maintenance treatments thereafter. Treatment areas available include upper lip, chin, sideburns, underarms, arms, full legs, bikini line, Brazilian, and full body. In a medical clinic setting, the procedure can be adapted for sensitive areas and darker skin types using appropriate laser parameters or longer-wavelength devices such as Nd:YAG, which has lower melanin absorption and a better safety profile for pigmented skin. Topical numbing cream is available for sensitive zones. The regulated clinical environment ensures proper skin cooling, correct fluence settings, and medical oversight for any skin reactions.
