Extended radiofrequency fractional microneedling covering both the face and neck, addressing skin laxity, horizontal neck lines, and crepey texture on the cervical skin alongside full facial rejuvenation.
The combined face and neck RF microneedling protocol extends the fractional radiofrequency treatment beyond the jawline to address the cervical skin — an area that ages rapidly due to thinner dermis, lower sebaceous gland density, and constant mechanical stress from head movement and device use. Horizontal necklace lines, vertical platysmal bands, and crepey textural changes on the neck are notoriously resistant to topical treatments and respond well to the controlled dermal heating that RF microneedling provides. The neck requires modified treatment parameters compared to the face. The anterior neck skin is thinner and more vascular, so the physician reduces needle depth (typically 0.5-1.5mm versus 1.5-3.5mm on the face) and lowers RF energy intensity to avoid thermal injury to superficial structures. The lateral neck and submental area can tolerate slightly more aggressive settings. The platysma muscle lies directly beneath the cervical skin, so needle depth calibration is critical to target the dermis without penetrating into the muscle layer. The full face-and-neck session takes approximately 60 minutes including numbing. The face is treated first using the standard protocol — forehead, temples, cheeks, nasolabial folds, jawline, perioral area — then the treatment extends to the submental region (under the chin), the anterior neck from jawline to clavicles, and the lateral neck. This comprehensive approach ensures a seamless transition between facial and cervical skin quality, avoiding the common aesthetic disconnect where a rejuvenated face sits above an ageing neck. The neck responds to RF microneedling with the same collagen remodelling cascade as the face, though improvement may appear more gradually due to the thinner dermal layer and lower baseline collagen density. Three to four sessions at 4 to 6 week intervals typically produce visible tightening and smoothing of horizontal lines. The neck also benefits from more diligent sun protection after treatment, as the cervical skin is more photosensitive than facial skin during the healing phase.
