Double Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty)

Type

Eyelid Surgery

Duration

2 hours

Double eyelid surgery and upper blepharoplasty by Dr Ng Siew Weng using both incisional and suture (scarless) methods — Korean-influenced technique for natural, balanced eyelid folds suited to Asian anatomy.

SWENG Plastic Surgery offers double eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) as one of its signature procedures, reflecting Dr Ng's extensive training in Korea — a country renowned for its high volume and refined technique in eyelid aesthetics. Two surgical methods are available: incisional blepharoplasty, which creates a permanent eyelid crease with a faint scar along the fold, and is suitable for patients of all ages and those with excess upper eyelid skin, fat, or ptosis; and the suture (non-incisional) method, which is scarless and suited to younger patients without excess skin or fat, though results are less permanent. The incisional procedure takes approximately 1.5 hours and is performed under local or general anaesthesia as day surgery. Dr Ng's technique involves meticulous marking of the intended crease, precise removal of excess skin, muscle, and orbital fat where indicated, and wound closure using very fine non-absorbable sutures to minimise scarring. The goal is a natural-looking double fold that complements the patient's facial proportions — not an overdone Western look. Sutures are removed at one week post-operatively; swelling resolves by two weeks and bruising by two to three weeks. Light exercise can be resumed after three to four weeks. The procedure can also address droopy eyelids (ptosis correction) and puffy eye appearance. Eyebag surgery (lower blepharoplasty) is also available as a complementary procedure. As this is a cosmetic procedure, it is not Medisave or insurance claimable (ptosis correction may be partially claimable if functionally impairing vision — confirm with clinic).
