About this treatment

Acne is a multifactorial inflammatory skin condition affecting patients of all ages, and SW1 Clinic approaches it with a comprehensive medical programme that addresses both active acne and its sequelae — post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH), post-inflammatory erythema (PIE), and acne scarring. The clinic's acne division combines energy-based devices, ultrasound therapy, and light-based treatments to achieve clearance with minimal systemic medication.

I-Clear is SW1's signature acne treatment combining blue and red LED wavelengths with targeted laser energy. Blue light (415nm) has direct bactericidal action against Cutibacterium acnes, the primary organism driving inflammatory acne. Red light (633nm) penetrates deeper to reduce sebaceous gland activity and calm surrounding inflammation. This dual approach addresses both the bacterial and inflammatory arms of acne pathogenesis.

Acne Clear BBL uses BroadBand Light filtered to the blue spectrum to reduce acne-causing bacteria and sebum production across the full face. It is particularly effective for patients with widespread inflammatory acne where point-specific targeting is impractical. The treatment is gentle, with sessions lasting 20–30 minutes and no recovery time.
