Theralight 360 - Red Light Therapy
Type
Red Light Therapy
Duration
20 min
Full-body photobiomodulation using the Theralight 360 — a medical-grade LED bed delivering red (630–660nm) and near-infrared (810–850nm) wavelengths across 360 degrees. Unlike panel-style devices, the Theralight surrounds the body from all angles simultaneously, ensuring even light delivery. The wavelengths penetrate skin and tissue to stimulate mitochondrial ATP production, promote collagen synthesis, and modulate inflammation. Used for skin health, wound healing, joint pain, muscle recovery, and general cellular energy.
The Theralight 360 at Super Young is a full-body LED bed that delivers red and near-infrared light from LEDs positioned around the entire circumference of the unit — above, below, and to the sides. This 360-degree coverage distinguishes it from flat panel devices, which only treat one surface at a time and require repositioning. Two wavelength ranges are delivered simultaneously: red light at 630–660nm, which penetrates the skin to a depth of roughly 8–10mm and is primarily associated with collagen production, wound healing, and skin rejuvenation; and near-infrared at 810–850nm, which penetrates deeper into muscle, tendon, and joint tissue, targeting mitochondria to boost ATP (cellular energy) production. The mechanism of action — photobiomodulation — involves photons of light being absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. This increases ATP output, reduces oxidative stress within the cell, and triggers downstream signalling pathways that reduce inflammation and promote tissue repair. The research base spans dermatology (acne, psoriasis, wound healing), musculoskeletal medicine (arthritis, tendinopathy), sports science (DOMS reduction), and neuroscience (mood, cognitive function). At Super Young, the session lasts 20 minutes. You lie in the bed wearing minimal clothing (or underwear) and protective eye shields. The experience is warm and relaxing — no UV is emitted, so there is no tanning or burning risk. Staff set the wavelength programme based on your goals. Two to three sessions per week is a common frequency for skin and recovery goals. Many clients pair red light with cryotherapy or sauna for a stacked recovery protocol.
