Focused Shock Wave — Standalone Consultation

Type

Shock Wave Therapy

Duration

30 min

30-minute standalone consultation about focused shock wave — clinical assessment and protocol recommendation without treatment delivery. For clients evaluating whether FRV is the right tool for their indication.

Focused shock wave therapy (fokusovaná rázová vlna, FRV) delivers high-energy acoustic pulses concentrated to a precise tissue depth — typically 1-12 cm below the skin — using an electromagnetic or piezoelectric source. The energy density at the focal point is significantly higher than radial shock wave, making focused FRV the appropriate tool for deeper or more localised musculoskeletal targets: calcific tendinopathies (e.g. shoulder calcific deposits), deep insertional tendinopathies (Achilles, plantar fascia), avascular necrosis, non-union fractures, and selected chronic pain syndromes. Studio Náskok's focused shock wave protocol typically runs as a series of 3-5 sessions spaced 5-7 days apart, with response measured between sessions. Effects are mediated by mechanotransduction (mechanical signal converted to biological response): increased local blood flow, neovascularisation, release of growth factors, and disruption of calcific deposits. Session protocol: • Initial 60-min appointment — assessment, target localisation, first treatment session, education on home protocol • Subsequent 30-min appointments — direct treatment delivery • Standard pain-area expectation: mild to moderate discomfort during pulse delivery, often described as a brisk percussive sensation; typically tolerable without anaesthesia Indications: chronic plantar fasciitis (heel spur), Achilles tendinopathy (insertional and mid-portion), calcific shoulder tendinopathy, lateral and medial epicondylitis (tennis/golfer's elbow), patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee), trochanteric bursitis, myofascial trigger points, and selected non-union fracture cases. Contraindications: pregnancy, anti-coagulation therapy (relative), active infection in the target area, malignancy in the target area, and treatment over a pacemaker or steroid-injection site within 6 weeks. Package products on the ceník bundle the initial 60-min plus follow-up sessions at a discounted rate. Cancellation <24h before is 500 CZK. The standalone consultation is a 30-minute appointment dedicated to assessment, indication review, and protocol recommendation — without any shock wave treatment delivery in the same session. It exists for clients who: • Want a second opinion on whether FRV is right for their indication before committing to a course • Have complex multi-modal cases where the right tool isn't immediately obvious • Were referred by another clinician and want a Studio Náskok assessment before booking treatment The consultation includes clinical history, examination, review of any prior imaging, and a written recommendation including realistic expected outcomes, contraindications relevant to the case, and proposed protocol if FRV is appropriate. If the client subsequently books a treatment course, the 700 CZK consultation fee may or may not be credited toward the course — confirm with reception.
