Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and disinfects the canal system and seals it, relieving pain and allowing a natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. At STOMO Clinic endodontic treatment is carried out under a dental operating microscope for high magnification and precision, with pricing set by tooth type. Re-treatment of previously root-filled teeth and management of complications such as broken instruments are also offered.
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft pulp inside a tooth — its nerves and blood vessels — becomes infected or irreversibly inflamed, usually from deep decay, a crack or trauma. Left untreated this can cause severe pain and abscesses. The treatment removes the diseased pulp, shapes and disinfects the fine canals inside the roots, and fills and seals them so the tooth can be saved and restored. At STOMO Clinic endodontic work is performed under a dental operating microscope, which provides strong magnification and illumination of the root canal system. This helps the dentist locate and clean all the canals thoroughly — including narrow or curved ones that are easily missed — and supports more predictable outcomes, particularly in complex molars and in re-treatment cases. The clinic prices treatment according to the tooth: anterior teeth with fewer canals are more straightforward than multi-rooted molars. Where a previous root filling has failed, the clinic offers re-treatment, and it can manage difficult situations such as removing a fractured instrument, repairing a perforation or placing MTA. Local anaesthetic keeps the procedure comfortable, and after the canals are sealed the tooth is rebuilt with a composite restoration and, when significantly weakened, often a crown for long-term protection. Saving a natural tooth this way is generally preferable to extraction; the dentist confirms whether the tooth is restorable at the endodontic consultation, supported by CBCT imaging where helpful.
