A dental crown is a custom cap that covers a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its shape, strength and appearance. STOMO Clinic offers metal-free all-ceramic and zirconia crowns for natural-looking aesthetics, as well as more economical porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. Restorations are planned with digital iTero scanning for an accurate fit, and where a tooth is badly broken down a post-and-core can be placed first to support the crown.

About this treatment

A crown is an individually made restoration that fits over the whole visible part of a tooth, rebuilding it when a large filling, a fracture or root canal treatment has left it weakened. By enclosing the tooth, a crown protects what remains and restores normal biting function while matching the look of the surrounding teeth.

At STOMO Clinic the process usually involves preparing the tooth, taking a digital impression with the iTero scanner and fitting the finished crown at a later visit, with a temporary crown in between.
