A dental implant is a small titanium post inserted into the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it has integrated with the surrounding bone over a healing period, it provides a stable foundation for a crown, bridge or denture. Because the implant is anchored in bone rather than resting on neighbouring teeth, it helps preserve the jaw and does not require healthy adjacent teeth to be ground down. At STOMO Clinic treatment begins with a consultation and a cone-beam CT (CBCT) scan, which produces a three-dimensional view of the jaw so the surgeon can plan the implant's position, angle and depth and check the available bone. The implant itself is placed under local anaesthetic by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon; most people return to normal activities the next day. After a healing phase the implant is restored with a crown made in the clinic's prosthetic workflow, using digital iTero scanning for an accurate fit. Where bone is insufficient, the clinic offers closed or open sinus lift and augmentation procedures, and in suitable cases an immediate implant can be placed at the time of extraction. Implants are well suited to adults who have lost one or more teeth and want a fixed, long-lasting alternative to a removable denture or a conventional bridge.
