Type
Root Canal
Duration
2 hours
Treatment to save a tooth whose inner pulp has become inflamed or infected, often the cause of severe toothache. The infected tissue is removed, the canals are cleaned, shaped and disinfected, then sealed. STOMED carries out endodontics under an operating microscope for a clearer view of the canal system, and prices the treatment by how many canals the tooth has.
Root canal treatment, or endodontics, is used to save a tooth when the soft tissue inside it — the pulp, which contains the nerve and blood supply — has become irreversibly inflamed or infected, commonly through deep decay, a crack or trauma. This is frequently the source of severe, lingering toothache or sensitivity, and treating it allows the natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. During treatment the dentist removes the diseased pulp, then carefully cleans, shapes and disinfects the narrow canals inside the roots before filling and sealing them to prevent further infection. STOMED carries out endodontic treatment under an operating microscope, which magnifies and illuminates the canal system so that fine and curved canals can be located and treated more thoroughly — endodontics is one of the clinic's areas of particular focus, and the team lists membership of the Polish Endodontic Society. The price depends on the complexity of the tooth, specifically how many root canals it contains: front teeth usually have a single canal while back molars often have three or four, which take longer and require more work. Where a previous treatment has left a fractured instrument or a post in the canal, or where a perforation needs sealing with a biocompatible material (MTA), these can be addressed as additional steps. Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic and is generally comfortable; some tenderness around the tooth for a few days afterwards is normal. Because a root-treated tooth can become more brittle, the dentist will often recommend a crown afterwards — particularly on heavily restored back teeth — to protect it against fracture and restore full chewing function. The clinic's on-site imaging supports accurate diagnosis and assessment of the root anatomy before and during treatment.
