A titanium implant placed in the jaw to replace the root of a missing tooth, later restored with a crown to look and function like a natural tooth. Implantology is one of STOMED's main areas, supported by 3D imaging for planning and memberships in Polish and German implantology bodies. The clinic also offers immediate placement after extraction and bone-grafting procedures where more support is needed.
A dental implant replaces a missing tooth at the root. A small titanium post is placed into the jawbone where, over a healing period of typically a few months, it fuses with the bone in a process called osseointegration to form a stable foundation. A custom crown is then attached to restore the visible tooth, giving a result that looks, feels and functions much like a natural tooth and, unlike a conventional bridge, does not require the neighbouring teeth to be cut down. Implants can replace a single tooth, several teeth or be used to support larger restorations. Implantology is one of STOMED's principal areas of focus, and the practice lists membership of the Polish Association for Implantology, the German Society for Oral Implantology (DGOI) and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI). Careful planning underpins a good outcome, and the clinic uses on-site 3D cone-beam (CBCT) imaging to assess the height and width of available bone and the position of nerves and the sinus before surgery. Where a tooth is being removed, an implant can sometimes be placed in the same appointment (immediate placement). Where there is not enough bone to hold an implant securely, the clinic offers grafting and augmentation procedures — a closed or open sinus lift to add support in the upper back jaw, or ridge regeneration to rebuild lost bone width or height — so that implant treatment remains possible. The titanium post and the final crown are separate stages and are priced separately; a temporary crown can be fitted in the interim where appropriate. Implants are placed under local anaesthetic, and the dentist will explain the full sequence, the healing intervals and the total cost at consultation. Good oral hygiene and regular maintenance visits help implants last for many years. For patients travelling from Germany, the treatment is usually staged across visits, which the team can plan around in advance.
