At Stomatologia Wileńska the main options are all-ceramic crowns — pressed lithium-disilicate (E.max) and zirconium oxide — which contain no metal and let light pass through more like a natural tooth, making them well suited to visible front teeth as well as hard-working back teeth. A traditional crown made of metal with a porcelain facing is also offered at a lower price. The process usually takes two visits. At the first, the tooth is prepared under local anaesthetic, an impression or digital scan is taken, the shade is matched and a temporary crown is fitted to protect the tooth. The laboratory then makes the permanent crown, which is checked for fit, bite and colour before being bonded in place. Where a tooth is damaged but does not need full coverage, the clinic offers ceramic inlays and onlays, which conserve more of the natural tooth than a crown while still restoring strength. Crowns are also the building block of fixed bridges used to replace a missing tooth by spanning the gap.
