A cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan that produces a detailed three-dimensional image of the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses. It is used to plan implants, assess difficult root canals, locate impacted teeth and investigate other conditions that a standard X-ray cannot fully show. The clinic also offers conventional 2D panoramic X-rays for a broad overview of all the teeth and jaws.
About this treatment
Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that captures the mouth in three dimensions, unlike a conventional flat X-ray. By reconstructing a 3D model of the teeth, roots, jawbone, nerve canals and sinuses, it gives the dentist precise information about anatomy that is difficult or impossible to judge from a 2D image, and it does so at a lower radiation dose than a medical CT scan.
