Dental 3D Scan (Cone-Beam CT)

Type

CT Scan

Duration

20 min

A cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a low-dose three-dimensional X-ray that shows the teeth, jawbone, nerves and sinuses in detail. Stomatologia Kucharski uses on-site CBCT to plan implants, assess bone, investigate complex root canal anatomy and evaluate impacted teeth. Scans are priced by the size of the area captured, with panoramic and intraoral X-rays also available on site.

Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is a specialised dental scan that produces a detailed three-dimensional image of the teeth and jaws at a comparatively low radiation dose. Unlike a flat X-ray, a 3D scan lets the dentist assess bone height and width, the exact position of nerves and the maxillary sinuses, the anatomy of root canals and the orientation of impacted or unerupted teeth — information that is important for planning treatment safely and accurately. At Stomatologia Kucharski CBCT is available on site and is used to support implant planning, surgical and endodontic cases and the assessment of impacted teeth such as wisdom teeth. The scan is quick and non-invasive: the machine rotates around the head to capture the images, which are then reviewed on screen. The cost depends on the field of view — the volume of the jaw that is imaged — from a small, focused 5x5 cm scan of a single area up to a larger 8x9 cm volume covering more of the jaws, so patients are only charged for the scan size their treatment requires. Standard panoramic radiographs, which give a broad two-dimensional overview of all the teeth and jaws, and small intraoral X-rays of individual teeth are also available on site. Having imaging in-house is convenient for international patients, as diagnosis, planning and treatment can be coordinated within a single visit. The dentist explains why a particular scan is recommended and what it shows for your treatment.
