About this treatment
Professional dental hygiene, sometimes called a scale and polish, is the removal of plaque, hardened tartar (calculus) and external staining from the teeth. Even with good brushing, mineralised deposits build up over time — especially around the gum line and between the teeth — and these harbour bacteria that drive gum inflammation, bad breath and decay. Regular hygiene visits are associated with healthier gums and catching problems early.
At Stomatologia Chrobrego the appointment combines two methods. Ultrasonic scaling uses fine high-frequency vibrations to break tartar away from the tooth surface and just below the gum, while sandblasting (air-polishing) directs a gentle jet of fine powder and water to lift stubborn stains from coffee, tea, red wine and tobacco, leaving the teeth visibly cleaner and smoother.
