Multi-slice CT of any single body region — head, chest, spine, abdomen, pelvis, bones, or joints — on the SOMATOM Pro.Pulse Dual Source scanner. Native or contrast-enhanced. Covers all standard diagnostic indications.
St. Catherine Specialty Hospital's general CT service covers all standard body regions using the Siemens SOMATOM Pro.Pulse with Dual Source technology — the most advanced CT scanner currently installed in Central Eastern Europe. Available scan regions include the head and brain, neck and soft tissue, chest and mediastinum, abdomen and pelvis (single or combined), spine (cervical, thoracic, lumbar), paranasal sinuses, and musculoskeletal extremities including bones and joints. The SOMATOM Pro.Pulse delivers the same exceptional image quality for general body CT as it does for cardiac studies. Its built-in artificial intelligence platform, myExam Companion, automatically adapts scan parameters — tube voltage, current, pitch, and timing — to individual patient characteristics before each examination, minimising radiation dose while preserving diagnostic detail. The scanner's DE virtual Non Contrast function is unique in Croatia: it reconstructs a synthetic unenhanced image from a dual-energy contrast scan, eliminating the need for a separate native-phase acquisition in multi-phase abdominal protocols and cutting total radiation exposure by up to 50%. Computed tomography acquires thin consecutive cross-sectional slices and reconstructs them into three-dimensional datasets using sophisticated post-processing algorithms. This allows detection of structural abnormalities — masses, organ pathology, vascular changes, fractures — that are not visible on plain X-ray or ultrasound. CT is particularly useful in oncology staging and follow-up, trauma and fracture assessment, acute abdominal presentations, pulmonary pathology, and inflammatory disease assessment. St. Catherine's radiology department operates 20-plus centres of excellence within the broader hospital. Board-certified radiologists with subspecialty training prepare written reports. The hospital is JCI-accredited by the Joint Commission International and holds membership of the Leading Hospitals of the World network. International patients benefit from English-speaking clinical and administrative staff, EU Cross-Border Healthcare Directive compliance, and dedicated admissions coordination for medical travellers. The main Zagreb campus at Branimirova 71 E is minutes from the city centre and the main railway station, and Zagreb Airport is served by direct flights from across Europe. Contrast-enhanced studies are available for all body regions where improved soft-tissue characterisation or vascular assessment is required. Patients with contrast allergy history or impaired renal function are assessed individually prior to booking.
