Removable Denture

Type

Crowns & Bridges

Duration

1 hour

Removable dentures replace several missing teeth or a full arch, restoring chewing, speech and appearance. SmileStudio offers cast metal (skeletal) frameworks, full and partial acrylic dentures, and flexible nylon options, with versions using discreet precision attachments instead of visible clasps. Repairs, additions and relines of existing dentures are also available so a denture can be adjusted as the mouth changes over time.

Removable dentures are custom-made appliances that replace missing teeth and can be taken out for cleaning. They restore the ability to chew and speak, support the lips and cheeks, and improve appearance. SmileStudio offers several types to suit different needs: a cast metal (skeletal) denture has a slim, strong metal framework that makes it comfortable and stable for replacing some of the teeth; full acrylic dentures replace a complete arch; partial acrylic dentures fill in where several teeth are missing; and flexible acron/nylon dentures provide a metal-free alternative. For a more discreet result, skeletal dentures can be made with precision attachments or clasps that lock onto remaining teeth or crowns without visible metalwork, priced separately per attachment. Making a denture involves a series of impressions and try-in stages so the fit, bite and tooth position can be refined before the finished appliance is delivered, and a short period of adjustment to wearing it is normal. Because the gums and underlying bone gradually change shape after teeth are lost, dentures need occasional maintenance — SmileStudio offers relines to improve the fit, repairs if a denture cracks or a tooth detaches, and the addition of further teeth to an existing denture as more are lost. For patients who want greater stability, dentures can in some cases be supported by implants; the dentist will discuss whether this is appropriate. At the planning stage the dentist assesses the remaining teeth and gums, explains which type of denture suits your situation, and sets out the stages and total cost.
