PRP / PRF Platelet-Rich Plasma

Type

PRP/PRF Therapy

Duration

45 min

Platelet-rich plasma and fibrin (PRP/PRF) use a small sample of your own blood, concentrated to its growth factors, to support tissue repair. At SmileStudio this is offered both as a regenerative aesthetic treatment and as an adjunct in oral surgery, where PRF can be placed in a socket or surgical site to aid healing. Because the material is entirely your own, it is well tolerated.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) are prepared by drawing a small sample of your own blood and spinning it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets and the growth factors they contain. These growth factors play a natural role in tissue repair, and the concentrate can be used in two settings at SmileStudio. As a regenerative aesthetic treatment, PRP/PRF is applied to the skin or injected to support its quality and is offered as a standalone procedure. In oral surgery, PRF can be placed into an extraction socket or surgical site — for example after a difficult extraction or alongside implant placement and bone grafting — where it is associated with support for the body's own healing of the wound. Because the material is autologous — derived entirely from you — there is no risk of an allergic reaction to a foreign substance, which makes PRP/PRF a well-tolerated, natural option. The procedure adds a short blood draw and preparation step to the appointment; any discomfort is usually limited to the draw itself and the treated area, with mild redness or tenderness possible afterwards. When used in surgery, PRF is prepared and applied at the same visit as the procedure it supports and is priced separately as an adjunct. The dentist will explain how PRP or PRF fits into your particular treatment, what it is intended to support and any relevant considerations, and will confirm suitability beforehand; it is not used in certain blood or clotting conditions or during pregnancy.
