A full-ceramic or zirconia crown that caps a damaged, heavily filled or root-treated tooth to restore its shape, strength and appearance. Metal-free crowns transmit light more naturally than older porcelain-fused-to-metal designs, which helps them blend with surrounding teeth. At SmileOn the tooth is scanned digitally with a 3Shape TRIOS 5 scanner rather than a traditional putty impression, and multiple crowns can be combined into a bridge to replace missing teeth.

Treatment usually takes two stages. First the tooth is shaped and a digital impression is captured with the 3Shape TRIOS 5 intraoral scanner, avoiding the discomfort of conventional impression material; a temporary crown protects the tooth while the permanent one is made.
