Extraction
Duration

Removal of a wisdom tooth (third molar) that is causing pain, recurrent infection, decay or crowding, or is impacted against the neighbouring tooth. The procedure is performed by the clinic's oral-surgery team under local anaesthetic, with CBCT imaging available to assess the roots and nearby nerve before more complex cases. At SmileOn fully impacted teeth are quoted higher, and a PRF dressing made from the patient's own blood can be added to support healing.
Wisdom teeth are the last molars to erupt, usually in early adulthood, and frequently lack the space to come through properly. When they become impacted, partially erupt, trap food and bacteria, decay, or push against the second molar, removing them relieves symptoms and prevents further problems. At SmileOn Dental Studio extractions are handled by a team with an oral-surgery and implantology focus, and the on-site CBCT scanner allows the position of the roots and their relationship to the lower jaw nerve and the sinus to be assessed in three dimensions before surgery — particularly valuable for deeply impacted teeth. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic. A straightforward wisdom tooth that has erupted can often be removed simply, while a tooth that is fully impacted in the bone requires a surgical approach to expose and section it, which is reflected in the higher price for retained teeth. Afterwards the socket is cleaned and, where helpful, stitched; the clinic can place a PRF (platelet-rich fibrin) dressing prepared by spinning a small sample of the patient's own blood, which is used to support healing of the socket. Patients are given clear aftercare instructions to reduce swelling and lower the risk of complications such as a dry socket, which the clinic can also treat if it occurs. Wisdom tooth removal suits patients with symptomatic, decayed or problematic third molars; the surgeon reviews the X-ray or CBCT, explains the difficulty and any nerve-proximity considerations, and discusses pain relief and recovery beforehand.
