Tooth Extraction

Type

Extraction

Duration

30 min

Removal of a permanent tooth that is too damaged, decayed, broken or loosened by gum disease to be saved. The clinic's surgeons carry out simple and surgical extractions under local anaesthetic, with pricing depending on whether the tooth has one or several roots. At SmileOn the extraction site can be managed with sutures and, where appropriate, planned with future tooth replacement such as an implant or bridge in mind.

A tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth that can no longer be restored — for example one that is severely decayed, fractured below the gum, abscessed, or made mobile by advanced gum disease. While the clinic's emphasis is on saving teeth where possible, removal is sometimes the most sensible option to relieve pain, eliminate infection or prepare for orthodontic or prosthetic treatment. At SmileOn Dental Studio extractions are performed by dentists with surgical experience, under local anaesthetic so the procedure is comfortable. A single-rooted tooth such as an incisor is usually straightforward, whereas a multi-rooted molar, or a tooth that has broken at the gum line, may need a surgical approach and is priced accordingly; baby teeth in children are removed at a lower cost. On-site X-ray and CBCT imaging help the surgeon assess the roots and surrounding bone beforehand. After the tooth is removed the socket is cleaned and, if needed, stitched, and the patient is given aftercare advice to support healing and reduce the chance of a dry socket. Importantly, the clinic can plan ahead for how the gap will be managed — whether left, replaced later with an implant, bridge or denture, or preserved with grafting to maintain bone for a future implant. Extraction suits patients with an unrestorable or problematic tooth; the dentist confirms that removal is the right choice, discusses replacement options, and explains anaesthesia, healing and any follow-up such as suture removal.
