Root canal treatment removes infected or inflamed tissue from inside a tooth, cleans and disinfects the canal system and seals it, relieving pain and allowing a natural tooth to be kept rather than extracted. At Smile Studio endodontic treatment is priced by the number of canals, starting with single-canal front teeth. After treatment the tooth is rebuilt with a filling or post, and often protected with a crown to restore long-term strength.
About this treatment
Root canal (endodontic) treatment is needed when the soft tissue inside a tooth — the pulp, which contains the nerve and blood supply — becomes inflamed or infected through deep decay, a crack or trauma. The procedure removes this damaged tissue, shapes and disinfects the fine canal system inside the root, and seals it to prevent further infection, which relieves pain and lets you keep a tooth that might otherwise need to be removed. Modern techniques and magnification help locate and clean the canals thoroughly.
