A porcelain veneer is a thin, custom shell of ceramic bonded to the front of a tooth to improve its colour, shape, size or alignment. At Smile Studio veneers form part of the clinic's aesthetic and digital smile-design work, used to close small gaps, mask discolouration and even out the smile line. The porcelain surface resists staining and reflects light like natural enamel, with each veneer made by the laboratory and bonded individually.
About this treatment
Porcelain veneers are wafer-thin ceramic facings that are bonded to the visible surface of the front teeth to transform their appearance. They are used to improve the colour of stained or discoloured teeth, to reshape teeth that are worn, chipped or uneven, to close small spaces and to create a more harmonious smile line. Because the porcelain is translucent and stain-resistant, well-made veneers are associated with a natural, durable result.
At Smile Studio veneers are planned as part of the clinic's aesthetic dentistry and digital smile-design service, where the proposed shape and proportions can be visualised before treatment begins. A small amount of enamel is usually prepared from the front of each tooth, impressions or digital scans are taken, and temporary veneers may be worn while the ceramist crafts the final restorations to the agreed shade and form.
