Type
PRP/PRF Therapy
Duration
1 hour
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses the patient's own blood — concentrated in a centrifuge to extract a platelet-dense fraction — and reintroduces it into the skin or scalp to stimulate collagen production and accelerate tissue repair. At Skinderm Ostrava, a venous blood draw is followed by centrifugation on-site to produce PRP within minutes; the plasma is then injected across the face, neck, décolletage, hands, or scalp using fine needles. With 3–5 times the platelet concentration of whole blood, the preparation releases a concentrated burst of growth factors at the injection site.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is produced from autologous whole blood — meaning the patient's own blood — drawn by venepuncture in the same session. After collection into specialised tubes containing an anticoagulant, the blood is placed in a centrifuge and spun at a controlled speed and duration to separate the fraction rich in platelets and growth factors from the red blood cell and platelet-poor plasma layers. The resulting PRP contains 3–5 times the baseline platelet concentration of whole blood and is replete with growth factors including PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), TGF-β, VEGF, EGF, and FGF — signalling proteins that recruit fibroblasts, stimulate new collagen and elastin synthesis, and promote angiogenesis. At Skinderm, the whole process from blood draw to injection takes place within a single 60-minute appointment. The dermatologist draws blood (typically 8–20 ml depending on the number of vials), processes it in the centrifuge, and then injects the PRP into the target area using fine needles. For skin rejuvenation of the face, neck, décolletage, or hands, the PRP is placed intradermally at multiple points; for scalp hair stimulation it is injected at the follicular level, similar to the mesotherapy technique. As an autologous biological product, PRP carries essentially zero allergy risk — the patient's immune system recognises its own platelets. The main risk is bruising at injection sites, which typically resolves within 2–5 days. Mild redness and swelling at injection points are expected and settle within 24 hours. For facial rejuvenation, a series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is the standard protocol, with annual maintenance thereafter. For hair loss, 5 sessions over 5–6 weeks is recommended, and Skinderm offers a 5-session course at 9,000 Kč. PRP can be combined with microneedling (applied topically during the needling session to drive penetration into micro-channels) or with hair mesotherapy for additive follicle-stimulating effect. Results become visible 4–6 weeks after the first session and continue to improve over 3–6 months.
