Laser Hair Removal — Diolaze XL

Laser hair removal at Skinderm Ostrava uses the Diolaze XL — a dual-wavelength diode laser (755/810 nm) with an integrated skin cooling system — to permanently reduce unwanted hair across the face and body. The dual wavelengths target melanin in the hair follicle at multiple depths simultaneously, making it effective across a range of hair colours and skin types. Diolaze XL's large spot size and built-in contact cooling enable faster, more comfortable treatments than many older diode systems. A full course of 4–8 sessions, spaced according to the hair cycle of each body area, achieves long-term hair reduction.

The Diolaze XL system, manufactured by InMode, uses two complementary diode laser wavelengths — 755 nm (alexandrite range) and 810 nm — to maximise follicle targeting across different skin depths and hair shaft diameters. The 755 nm wavelength is preferentially absorbed by melanin in finer, more superficial follicles typical of facial hair, while the 810 nm penetrates deeper and is effective for coarser body hair. Delivering both wavelengths in a single pass improves coverage of heterogeneous hair populations within a treatment area. The device incorporates a Sapphire-cooled contact tip that remains at 5°C during treatment, maintaining the epidermis at a temperature that prevents surface burns while the laser energy passes through and heats the follicle bulge and bulb — the regions that contain the stem cells and melanocytes responsible for hair regeneration. This selective heating destroys the follicle's regenerative capacity without ablating the skin surface. At Skinderm, each session begins with shaving the area the day before the appointment (waxing and plucking must be avoided for 2 weeks prior, as they remove the melanin-containing hair shaft that the laser needs to target). A patch test is performed at the first consultation. During the session, the cooled handpiece is pressed firmly against the skin as pulses are delivered; patients feel warmth and a mild snapping sensation that the cooling system mitigates significantly compared with older devices. Treatment intervals reflect the hair growth cycle: facial hair cycles every 4–8 weeks; body hair every 6–12 weeks. Most areas require 4–8 sessions for 70–90% permanent hair reduction, though the exact number depends on hair density, colour, and hormonal status. Patients with hormonal hair growth (PCOS, post-pregnancy) may need additional sessions or periodic maintenance. Diolaze XL accommodates women and men, and treats the full body: face (upper lip, chin, full face, neck), upper body (armpits, chest, abdomen, forearms, areola), lower body (bikini line, Brazilian, buttocks, anal area, thighs, lower legs, full lower extremities), and back. Contraindications: pregnancy, active cancer, acute skin infections, active herpes simplex, eczema or psoriasis in active flare within the treatment zone, tattooed areas, and perforated areas from piercing (jewellery removed but piercing channel contraindicated).
