Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy at Sculpt DTLA uses the patient's own blood, processed by centrifuge to concentrate platelets and growth factors, applied via SkinPen microneedling or facial injections. PRF supports skin regeneration, collagen stimulation, and healing. Used to address fine lines, skin dullness, under-eye hollows, hair loss, and acne scarring. No synthetic fillers — entirely autologous.
Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) therapy at Sculpt DTLA is an autologous biological treatment that uses the patient's own blood as the source material. A small blood draw (typically 10–30 mL) is taken and spun in a centrifuge at a lower speed than standard PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) preparation protocols. The lower centrifuge speed is intentional: it preserves the fibrin scaffold — a mesh of protein fibres that forms naturally when blood clots — along with the concentrated platelets (thrombocytes) that are trapped within the fibrin matrix. This fibrin scaffold is absent in conventional PRP preparation, which uses higher centrifuge speeds that break the fibrin down. The fibrin scaffold in PRF serves as a three-dimensional slow-release matrix for the growth factors secreted by the activated platelets — including Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF), Transforming Growth Factor-beta (TGF-β), Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF), Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF), and Insulin-Like Growth Factor (IGF-1). Because the fibrin physically delays the release of these growth factors over seven to fourteen days rather than releasing them all immediately as in PRP, the biological stimulus to fibroblasts, keratinocytes, and endothelial cells is more sustained. This is thought to produce a more prolonged collagen synthesis response. At Sculpt DTLA, PRF is administered in two primary delivery modes: as a topical application concurrent with SkinPen microneedling — the needles create microchannels through which the PRF flows into the dermis — and as an injection directly into treatment zones such as the under-eye area, nasolabial folds, and temples. PRF injections do not provide volumetric fill like hyaluronic acid, but they support tissue quality and regeneration. A course of sessions two to four weeks apart is typically recommended.
