Re-treatment of a tooth that has had a previous root canal but remains symptomatic or re-infected. Working under the microscope, the dentist reopens the tooth, removes the old filling material and any obstacles, then cleans, disinfects and re-seals the canals to give the tooth another chance before considering extraction.
