Tattoo removal at RVmedCentrum uses a picosecond Q-switch Nd:YAG laser — one of the most advanced tattoo removal technologies available. Picosecond pulses are delivered in one-trillionth-of-a-second bursts that shatter tattoo pigment particles into fragments small enough for the immune system to clear. This is faster and requires fewer sessions than nanosecond Q-switch lasers while causing less thermal damage to surrounding tissue. Darker pigments (black, dark blue) respond most rapidly; multi-colour tattoos may require additional sessions.
Tattoo removal works on the principle that laser energy fragments tattoo pigment into particles small enough to be eliminated by the body's lymphatic system. The Nd:YAG wavelength (1064 nm for dark pigments; 532 nm harmonics for red/orange) is absorbed by tattoo ink with high selectivity, minimising damage to surrounding skin. RVmedCentrum's picosecond Q-switch laser differs from older nanosecond devices in the duration of each pulse. Where nanosecond lasers deliver energy in billionths of a second, picosecond lasers deliver it in trillionths — 1,000 times faster. This ultrashort pulse duration creates a photomechanical (rather than purely photothermal) effect: the rapid energy delivery shatters pigment particles mechanically without building up as much heat in the surrounding tissue. The result is more complete fragmentation per session, less risk of scarring or hypopigmentation, and typically fewer total sessions needed. Pricing is stratified by tattoo size: small (up to 5cm) from 2,000 Kč; medium (up to 15cm) from 3,500 Kč; large (over 15cm) from 5,000 Kč per session. The number of sessions required depends on several variables — ink density, tattoo age, colour palette, skin tone, and depth of ink placement. Black ink responds fastest; green, teal, and light blue are the most resistant colours. Amateur tattoos (typically placed at shallower depth with lower ink density) fade more quickly than professional tattoos. Post-treatment: mild redness and swelling for several days; apply SPF 50+ and avoid sun. Do not pick at any crusting. Avoid mechanical friction (tight clothing over the area). Sessions are spaced a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks apart to allow the body time to clear the fragmented particles.
